Tithing is yet another practical step in serving our Master.
I can honestly say that from the say the Lord Saved my husband and I we have always been faithful to this commitment and command. Has it at times been hard? Honestly? YES. Has it been worth it? YES! As my pastor likes to say .. "You just can NOT outgive God". How True!
According to 1 Cor 16:1-2, God designated specifically for you to give your monies due Him in the place where His people are gathered together on Sunday mornings. This means the local church. Radio ministries should not receive your tithes, nor should any other ministry or organization that is outside o fa local church, no matter how good their cause may be. That is BIBLE If you wish to donate to outside charities, you do it with the monies that are over and above your tithe.
1Co 16:1-2 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
Notice that the word "store" was used. This is a reference to Mal 3:8, 10 which reads
Mal 3:8-10 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
The plan for tithing ...... The Bible points out a specific manner in which you are to give your tithes: it is that you give your 'firstfruits' or first part of your income, to the Lord. The examples we have in Scripture indicate that the Lord expects every Christian to give the first 10% of his earnings to God through his own local church. If your church is good enough to join, it is good enough to give your monies through! God will take care of your needs. Tithing is a test of your faith. You believed the Bible when it instructed you to be saved, now you can believe it when it teaches you to tight.
... and all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee. Genesis 28:22
The Lord wants you to demonstrate your commitment to Him. What better way for you to do this than to give Him back a portion of what He has given you the means to earn? The Bible gives promises for those that tithe. If you obey Him in this area, you will receive the blessing of having all of your needs met.
Pr 3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Lu 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
