Following you will find a series of questions a group of ladies and I have 'dubbed' Personal Evaluation Questions for the day. Print them off, or come back each day for a morning 'evaluation', just you and the Lord. Our goal has been to look deeper and search our hearts to see if we are really seeking to serve the Saviour or are we just comlacent in our walk. I pray they will help you as much as they have helped me. Don't just read them ladies - put them before you with a sincere desire to be pleasing to the Lord.
PERSONAL EVALUATION-Beseeching God for help.
This is an important part of our spiritual walk so I hope and pray that we all give it some careful consideration.
I have been reading in my Bible in devotion time and considering the word BESEECH .. and it has made me consider just how fervently (beseech) I (WE) seek God's help in areas? Especially when it comes to a lost soul. When is the last time we were so burdened about a loved one or someone we know of that is lost that it brought us to tears in prayer and we BEGGED God to move in their lives?
On this same note .. how saddened are we when we have to go to God and yet ask AGAIN for forgiveness ... or when was the last time we just praised him with joyful tears???
Oh ladies do you remember the day you were Saved? Do you consider the Hell you and I both deserve?
PERSONAL EVALUATION-Are you REALLY on fire for the Lord?
Would you consider yourself REALLY on fire for the Lord? Or can you look back and see where you once were and now have gotten to busy or complacent in your walk? This isnt one of those .. off the cuff answers . give it some thought .. you dont have to even answer but ladies we need to ask ourselves and face what God shows us.. and then decide what we are going to do about it.
PERSONAL EVALUATION-How does your "letter" read? II Cor. 3:2 You’ve Got Mail!!
I love getting letters by mail, don’t you? I always make a cup of Tea before I sit and read a letter. Some of our sweetest memories we have as a family are of my husband and daughter racing to see who got the mail in first.
As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. Proverbs 25:25
God’s Word tell us that we are letters….and others are reading it.
Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 2 Corinthians 3:3
What is an Epistle? Biblically speaking, it is a letter to a church or churches, and contain…. Instruction, blessing, warning, admonition and exhortation.
As a Christian, you are a living epistle of Christ.
If a ‘A picture is worth a thousand words,’ How much more true is it that how we live before others has a lot to say about what kind of people we truly are. As epistles or letters of Christ, our goal should be to live in such a way that we would bring glory to God.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Everyday, you are writing a letter to others by the way you act, think, talk, walk, etc….known and read of all men. 2 Corinthians 3:2.
How does your letter read? Does your letter bring joy and comfort to others? Does it bring Glory to God?
PERSONAL EVALUATION-How is your faith in God? Matt. 17:20
Matthew 17:20 "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say until you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."
Can you imagine if we had faith like that? We worry so often about where the next dollar is coming from, the next meal or how we are going to buy our children the things they need and forget that when we take them to the throne of Grace, God hears our prayers and will meet our needs according to His will.
How many times we take our requests, burdens and needs to the Lord but walk away and try to "fix" it anyway. It's such a wonderful thing to leave it at the cross, sit back and see just how God is going to take care of things. Try it!
How is your faith in God? Are you REALLY trusting Him or just talking it?
PERSONAL EVALUATION-Being helpful to your pastor's wife.
Helpfulness ...service or assistance toward someone else. We should learn to be helpful without expecting praise or thanks. Read about a helpful person named Hur in Exodus 17:8-13.
Ex 17:8 Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. 9 And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. 10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
Even small acts of helpfulness can have major consequences. What are some ways for you to be helpful WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR PASTORS WIFE?More verses to study
Daniel 10:13 - Angels practice helpfulness
Acts 16:9-10 - god shows Paul how to be helpful
Romans 12:13 - We should look for ways to be helpful
Philippians 4:10-14 - Helpfulness will be appreciated
PERSONAL EVALUATION-Self examination. "Search me O God" - Ps 139:23Ps 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: Self examination is not easy . We have talked before about how it is so necessary though .. everyone agreed. For myself I have been praying about and with Gods help working on trying to find one person each day to be a blessing too . Going out of my way to think of someone that just needs a phone call or card or even someone I dont know .. a simple smile that says I care .. Another thing is that I am purposing to give out at least One tract a day in my travels ..
How about you? .. if it is to personal .. just let us know that God is working on your and you are seeking to grow in Him .. that will be an encouragement to all of us AMEN.
PERSONAL EVALUATION-How "organized" is your life?
It is always good to consider .. if you are uncomfortable that's okay, sometimes the things that hurt the most are what bring us closest to God.
1. Do you set aside or plan a particular time of day to be alone with God and pray?
2. Is your relationship with your husband as loving as the day you married him?
3. Is your home an example of orderliness or one of chaos and confusion?
PERSONAL EVALUATION-Are you ready for unexpected guests? Hospitable?
1. If unexpected visitors arrived at your doorstep, would you be embarrassed to invite them into your home?
2. Could you feed unexpected visitors supper without running to the grocery store? If not would you go to the store or would you have to take them out to a restaurant?
3. Is your children's behavior an embarrassment to you when guests are in your home or when you are out in public?
PERSONAL EVALUATION-Walking examples for Christ. Isa. 29:13
Yesterday morning I went for a walk. These morning walks have become very special to me, as this is time that I spend alone in prayer – no distractions, no phones, no other people, just me and the Lord.
Many of us have never met face-to-face. We only know as much about each other as we have been willing to share. But the amazing thing about that is that I feel I know most of you better than I know my own neighbors. Why is that? I think it has to do with the fact that we open our HEARTS to each other and our common bond that we have with the Lord Jesus Christ. We don’t just give each other “lip service”, but truly speak from our hearts.Isaiah 29:13 speaks of people who say all the right things and act just the right way, but their heart is not in it. Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
Too many times I see people who are just going through the motions. They act one way at church, but walk out the door and leave that act on the pew – to be picked up the next time they come back. They do what they do because they think it is expected of them, not because of the love they have for Christ or for the brethren. (And sadly, I must admit, there have been times when I have done that myself.)
Ezekiel 33:31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.
Several years ago I heard the following saying, “they know how to fluff, but don’t live the stuff.” That has always stuck with me. We all need to regularly examine our hearts to make sure we are truly LIVING what we believe. Are we living what we are saying to others, or are we proclaiming lots of FLUFF without following up with the real STUFF?I pray each of us is doing our best to be walking examples for Christ.
PERSONAL EVALUATION-"Looking unto Jesus..." Heb. 12:2
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…Hebrews 12:2
It is the Holy spirit who turns our eyes and our thoughts entirely away from self and ‘unto Jesus.’ It is the work of Satan on the other hand to turn our eyes back upon ourselves, for it is the evil one who is constantly encouraging us to put self first. He does this in two ways: he tells us first of all, that we are too sinful, too depraved, that we cannot have enough faith or repentance, for God to save us. He tells us that we are to weak to hold out, that the Christian life will not bring us joy. On the other hand, he tells us that we are too important to humble ourselves in God’s sight, not bad enough to need God’s forgiveness.
On the opposite side of the picture, the Holy Spirit tells us that Christ is all and we are nothing, that it is not our hold upon Christ but His hold upon us that saves us. The Holy Spirit tells us that our joy is in Christ and not dependant on outward circumstances. ‘Look unto Jesus,’ -not to ourselves, not to our surroundings, not even to our loved ones. We can never find happiness by looking for it in our feelings, or in our circumstances. Happiness is only to be found in Christ Himself. It is not what we are but what Christ is that gives us rest unto our souls.
The only way we can overcome Satan’s temptation to us to look to self is by ‘looking unto Jesus,’ keeping our eyes solely on Him. His death, His sufferings, His merits and constant intercession for us at the Father’s right hand should be uppermost in our thoughts.
Who are you looking to?
PERSONAL EVALUATION-Do you feel you are growing spiritually mature?
1. Do you feel you are growing spiritually mature so as to be an example and guide for others?
2. Can you give five Scripture references on what the Bible says about being a godly woman, wife and mother? (yes you can get out your Bible)
PERSONAL EVALUATION-What is in MY basket that Jesus can use?
Something to think about and if you can ... Answer .. Consider the boy with the loaves and fishes All he had to offer was there in his basket, he was willing to give it and Jesus used it..
Now I ask you (and myself) what is in MY/OUR BASKET that Jesus can use today?
PERSONAL EVALUATION-When is the last time you memorized a verse or passage?
Beginning my reading in Job today .. I wondered just how much I could recall and be able to provoke and encourage myself with in regards to the Word of God if I should find myself in the position that Job did. What if ladies, our Bibles were removed from our reach?
As most of you know we have recently joined a new church .. our son Joshua came in late on the memorizing that the kids were doing on Wednesday night .. however, he managed to memorize the whole quarters work and say it all w/o any helps last Wednesday .. 9 verses and their references .. he is only NINE .. that provoked me Amen.
When is the last time you memorized a verse or passage?
