While reading in the Book of John we find: 'the disciple who Jesus loved" I want to be loved by Him don't you? So it stands to reason that we should want to be like, another words have the character and attributes of this disciple that we find in the book of John. Here are five, maybe you can find more, if so, write it up, and send it on!

#1. Sister if you have your Bible nearby let's open it to John 13

22 Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.
23 Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
24 Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.
25 He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

We see in verse 25 that this disciple was CLOSE to Jesus. Am I? Are you dear lady? Are we really leaning oh Him? Are we going to Him in times of trouble? Is He close by? Shame on us if He isn't amen? There isn't one of us that don't face something hard to bare in our lives at one time or another. So as I pondered this thought, I recalled the following verses:

Turn to and read Pr 3:5-6 If they are not already these are 2 verses that you should have underlined in your Bible. To me they have become that 'very present help in a time of trouble'. "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Even though this next verse is very familiar look at this verse a little more closely today : Php 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Do you see that? I have read that verse how many times? Many, that is for sure, however I never really noticed that there is NO 's' there on "need", I'm thinking that God just found another way to POUND it into me that one day at a time, one burden at a time, He is there for the immediate. Well, Amen to that!

Further more .. If we are close to the Lord like this disciple was we will begin to take on the attributes of Jesus. I'm sure we would learn to be THINK like Him. We would be NATURALLY compassionate, we would see the world as Jesus does. I mentioned this on a post last night; I believe that Jesus saw only two kinds of ppl, those that knew Him and those that did not. THAT is how we should think.

This disciple was CLOSE to Jesus. When we are close to a friend or family, we desire to spend time with them. IF we want to be CLOSE to Jesus also must be reading His Word and in prayer fellowship.

This is a favorite verse of mine and seems to go well with how this disciple rested on Jesus bossom:

Ps 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

#2. If you have your Bible handy open it to John 19 and let's read verses 25-27

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

We find here that Jesus ENTRUSTED this disciple with His very own mother! Can I be trusted? Can He trust you? I'm thinking that Joseph must have already died here, and Jesus was looking out for His earthy mom. What a great example this action of Jesus' was to enforce the truth of honoring our Father's and Mothers. However in the light of this 'loved' disciple this verse came to mind:

1Co 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

I ask again can we be trusted by God? So many areas to consider here.

Our Families.. Can we be trusted to love our husbands the way we should so that he can be used of God? Are we training our children when they come for GOD?

Our Church.. Can God trust us to be an intricate part of our churches? To be in prayer for our pastors? Are we behind the Man of God 100%? If we teach a Sunday School class do we prepare like we should? Can we be trusted to give our all in this area? How about working in the nursery, sure it is something anyone can do, but if you do, are you doing it for GOD? Can you be trusted to love those children and care for their physical as well as spiritual well being?

Most importantly ladies, God did not call just men to win the lost. Can He trust us with the precious gospel? Can we be trusted to impart it to others in our daily walk?

We ought to want to be in a position that when the Lord desires something done , He can look down and say I'll get CHRIS or (ADD YOUR NAME HERE) because she can be trusted .. I want to be a loved disciple amen?

#3. If you have your Bible close by lets turn to John 20 verses 1-4

The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.

He was DILIGENT!! He wasn't satisfied or content to run with Peter .. Are we satisfied in our walk with Christ? Are we content to let things stay as they are now? Or are we looking to go FURTHER as FAST as we can with the Lord?

We need to be 'pressing forward'... EVERYTHING we need to do that is found in the BOOK:

2Pe 1:3-7 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

Look at verse 13:
2Pe 1:13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

We are to STAY stirred up! This reminds me of Phil. 3:14,
Php 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

There again we find someone RUNNING to obtain! I mean we know that Paul once converted walked with and for God. Yet he was STILL RUNNING amen.

Ladies we need to be ADDING to our faith all the time. This flesh is weak. I think of all the ppl in my Christian life that have left their first love, they are no longer living for God and that is so sad. It could be me it could be YOU dear lady in a years time from now even tomorrow! . I cant help but think of how many ppl are lost because a Christian somewhere sometime left their walk and also left a bad taste in someones life. Think of David .. he was a goodly king, yet he made some very bad choices when it came to women. His testimony is/was scarred. Solomon also was great but messed up in the god department.

Oh that we would RUN all the time with our thoughts and doings to glorify God in all! WE have to be careful to not compare ourselves with other Christians . we need to RUN our own RACE . time is short ..

2Co 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

#4. If you have your Bible nearby, open it to the Book of John again:

Joh 21:3-7 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

This disciple had DISCERNMENT~Peter had no clue here, yet this disciple recogonized the Saviour's voice. Can we ladies?

As a Christian do we have the discernment to know the type of friends that we ought to have? Do we have the discernment to make the right decisions when it comes to the friends our children should have? So many things to mention here, our music, marriage partner, BIBLE, modesty, PREACHER we listen to.. etc.

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Look at the following verse .. to me it is the reason that we ought to USE our Bible,

Heb 5:11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.

TO HAVE DISCERNEMENT!!! Because if we do not .. we will be DULL of hearing. All we do and say ought to be according to God's will. What is His will? IT's ALL IN THE BOOK.

There is no room for confusion if we follow the Book. He's given us all we need.

1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

So to 'sum up' we have learned 4 things now about this Beloved Disciple
1. He is close to Jesus
2. He could be trusted by Jesus
3. He was diligent
4. He had discernement

He was a mere man, we all have the same opportunity ladies, ALL of us.

Just a small rabbit trail here . LOL another verse stood out that I hadnt seen before in this chapter .. I mentioned modesty in the discernment list above .. look at verse 7. NAKEDNESS IS A SIN! When the warm weather coming we had better remember that.

#5. Today let's open our Bibles and look again in the book of John, chapter 21 and verses 20-22:

Joh 21:20-22 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.

We find here that he was following Him, am I? are you ladies? Or are we just content to know we are saved and leave it that?

Sister, Are we IN a local church like we should be?
Are we ACTIVE in our church as we should be?

Are we following what God wants for us? Are we following Jesus' example in:

ministering to others ?
sharing the gospel, yes YOU!?

We have to stop comparing ourselves with others and compare ourselves with Jesus. He FOLLOWED the Father. we ought to be FOLLOWING JESUS in obedience to even the smallest things.

Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We can not stay in a church simply because our friends are there or we grew up there or our mom and dad's are there .. or or or . we need to be in a church where we can follow Jesus. Where we can believe what is being taught and it exhorts us to FOLLOW HIM in our thoughts and actions.

1Ti 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

1Co 4:15-17 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

Ladies, once we are saved we are to glorify God. The greatest honor we can bring to Him is a lost soul. So let us FOLLOW HIM, for if we do we will find ourselves with the same burden He has .. to win the lost ;-)

Mt 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
