One of my favorite places in our home is the family room with its fireplace on a cold winter day. Every year at Christmas I decorate it with candles, poinsettias, and lighted topiary trees. Today before coming to work, I sat down in one of the big overstuffed recliners, with candles lit, a cup of flavored coffee, and a warm fuzzy blanket. "LIFE IS GRAND!" This is where I do a lot of thinking, praying, and spending time with my Lord. As I looked at the fire I thought:

Fireplaces warm bodies, they don't warm hearts. Neither does fine furniture, four-car garages, or six-figure salaries. No, a cold heart can be warmed only by the fire of a living God.

Psalm 39:3-4 "My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue. Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am."

Warm hearts turn cold for many reasons: Bitterness, Depression, Despair, Discouragement, Doubt, Grief, Guilt, Impatience, Judgmentalness, Loneliness, Pain, Sin, Unforgiveness, Weariness, etc. If your heart is cold from any of these - a fireplace can't help, nor can the best heating system know to man. BUT GOD CAN!

Today before I got up from my chair I thanked God, for His fire that has never burned down. Today my heart is warm because He never left me when my heart was cold!

Heb 13:5b ' content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
