This was the Father's Day message preached by my pastor this year. Of course his message was much longer, I tried best I could to outline and expound a bit.

I perfectly understand that I as a woman am not to teach nor usurp authority unto a man. That is not what this is for. I find it to be an excellent message BY A MAN to MEN.

A Certain Man - When is a man a man?

Lu 20:9 Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.

A man is not a man when he can hit a home run, score a touchdown or a goal, nor when he presses 500 pounds. He is not a man just because he is a father or a husband either.

Although there are many examples of a MAN in the Bible, Let's for this study look at a definition of a "certain man" in Luke 20:

We find that a man IS a man when he recognizes AUTHORITY.

Vs. 1-8, We find that questioning authority is not a mark of a man but rather a mark of rebellion, or making excuses, pointing a finger at others to give excuse to himself. A good example here is that you ignore the word of God and allow your children to dress immodestly, your wives too! Your girls in slit skirts, men's clothing, the fellows walk around with their hats on backwards, not only that but worn in the homes. You rebel against the preaching of it because you are trying to win favor with your family rather than being obedient to God in these matters - you take the easy way out. You are like these scribes (vs. 1-8) asking "by what authority?"

We find that a man IS a man when he respects God's Vineyard.

When a man realizes that he IS that vineyard. In the 5th chapter of Isaiah we see that the vineyard is the nation of Israel, but in the New Testament that vineyard is a man. God invested that vineyard with the BIBLE, the HOLY GHOST and the Cross, all these to work THROUGH you. We became His individual vineyard, and God EXPECTS fruit in return.

1Co 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

There is NO ROOM TO BOAST in this position. He is everything we are nothing. We need to be conscious of being busy in the Lord's work as unto the LORD, not of ourselves, not for what feels good, not because it makes others feel good or 'fit in'.

1Co 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

You died with Christ, this doesn't make you a super person, It is by the grace of God - KNOW THIS.

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Jesus is the foundation!

1Co 3:12-15 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what SORT it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

SORT- Not how big but what "sort" a man will surrender everything and give GOD the GLORY. All is owed to HIM.

A man is a man when he respects Government!

Not a self-government, that is being in control of passions, temptations, and pleasures. Self government in a man is how he governs his 'person', his wife, children, money, (the home - he works towards financial freedom and remains there).

He governs his future and knows where he is going. [most importantly Salvation] He Sets goals for himself and his family. Where there are no goals there is no character, no ambition. Where you are going? - where are those under you are going?

He has respect for civil government! He pays his taxes, (like it or not):

Mt 22:21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

Pray for your government local and state wide, it is commanded for you to do so.

A man is a man when he rightly applies the Word of God!

The world is doing everything it can to tear down the Book, in the schools, in the perverted versions, religions etc. In verses 1-8 we see that they were trying to trip Jesus up with the Word -- and they Didn't believe it! What better example can we find of how FOLLY is shown when we don't believe the Word of God.

It is a Book of life to tell us how to live not to self-make and find excuse for justifying what you WANT, for allowing those under you to do what they WANT. Obey and Do as God says. That is what the Word of God is for! You attitude should be "God said it, I believe it, and I will let it govern my life"!

Men need to just obey God and quit trying to figure out God. The Book says to :

Pray, win souls, serve God..... Just Do It!

Men spend hours/days/weeks/YEARS trying to figure out 'election, predestination and so on... but you can not apply those things! No, don't be a legalist, Yes be a separatist, bottom line is to be HOLY first!

If men would be what they ought to be, women and children would be what they ought to be, and the church would be what it should be!
